Paddling Itineraries
These itineraries provide ideas on where to get started paddling the Water Trail. While most have been developed with novice paddlers in mind, there are a couple suggestions for longer or slightly more challenging paddles. You can also view the online map for information on all access points along the water trail to extend any trip or create your own adventure. Be sure to check river levels and assess weather conditions before you launch, since they may be different than what is described.

This is an easy paddle with minimal obstacles that can be broken up into shorter segments, with put-ins at any of the first three access points.

One of the unique features of this paddle is Hiawatha Island, a large, wooded island with rustic trails where remnants of its history including a hotel and farm remain.
